Zoom Launches VoIP Phone Service for
Private Labeling
Allows Internet Service Providers
to Provide VoIP Telephony Easily and Inexpensively
Boston,
MA , July 6, 2005 — Zoom Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:ZOOM)
today announced its Zoom VoIP ASAPtm Service, a turnkey
VoIP telephone service
that gives Internet Service Providers (ISPs) a fast and inexpensive
way to sell VoIP service that the ISP brands and controls.
Using Zoom’s unique setup package and toolkit, an ISP
with HTML experience should be able to implement a customized
VoIP service in one week from start to finish.
ISPs pay a setup fee of just $2000, which is refundable
through Zoom’s rebate program. ISPs will receive a rebate of
$10 for each unit of Zoom VoIP hardware purchased, up to
the entire $2000 fee.
ISPs then pay an ongoing fee of only $1 per user per month.
This covers unlimited outbound and inbound VoIP to VoIP calls,
voice mail, call forwarding, call conferencing, and other
advanced features. For toll calls and local connection to
the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), wholesale services
are available either from Zoom or from another carrier the
ISP chooses. The ISP is able to charge retail VoIP rates
to its customers. The ISP controls the branding and appearance
of the customer interface; and Zoom provides the ISP with
VoIP services, detailed customer billing records, user account
management tools, HTML templates for the ISP’s site,
training, support, and an Application Program Interface for
account management and billing.
Using Zoom’s VoIP ASAP Service, an ISP has complete
flexibility in structuring plans for its customers. For instance,
an ISP could charge its customers $2 per month for Zoom’s
$1 wholesale package, and then bill toll calls on a per-call
basis. Alternately, the ISP might decide to offer unlimited
calling within the US and Canada for a flat monthly rate.
The ISP might even elect to provide free or low-cost VoIP
hardware in exchange for a suitable service commitment from
the end user. “Zoom believes in customer choice for both end-users
and service providers,” said Terry Manning, Zoom’s VP Marketing
and Sales. “ISPs want an inexpensive, easy way to offer
VoIP service to their customers while continuing to own the
customer relationship. We not only provide that, we make
it all easy, from setup to customer billing.”
ISPs handle billing of their customers by credit card or
any other method of their choice. Prepaid billing is easy
using Zoom’s prepaid service capabilities.
Zoom’s new VoIP ASAP Service was specifically designed
for the world market, with support for multiple languages
and popular international billing methods including Paypal
and prepaid service.
The Zoom VoIP ASAP Service works with Zoom VoIP hardware
as well as most other SIP hardware. Zoom believes that many
ISPs prefer its X5v and V3 hardware because they can automatically
route emergency and directory calls reliably through the
Public Switch Telephone Network using Zoom’s proprietary
Teleport™ feature. For more information about Zoom’s VoIP hardware and
