| Zoom Begins Shipping Dialer For
Long Distance Service Providers
Dialer plugs in like a phone,
and works for all the phones in a home
Boston,
MA, April 15, 2003, - Zoom Telephonics, Inc. (NASDAQ:
ZOOM)
announced today that its award-winning Zoom/Dialer Model 24
is now shipping in quantity to long distance service providers. The
Model 24 dialer is designed to increase traffic for Voice
Over IP services, prepaid calling services, dial-around services,
and other long distance telephone services. The inexpensive
dialer plugs into an RJ-11 modular jack, just like a telephone,
and provides store-and-forward dialing to all the telephones
plugged into the same phone line as the dialer. When a user
dials a long distance phone number, the dialer stores the
dialed number. The number is then quickly analyzed using a
large, flexible routing table. The dialer then generates any
numbers needed to route the call to the appropriate carrier,
and automatically dials the call. The dialer can be remotely
programmed by a service provider using a PC, a Dialogicâ Voice
Board, and easy-to-use management software available from
Zoom. Most store-and-forward dialers
require a series connection between the central telephone
office and any phones that use the dialer. This series connection
is difficult in many homes, and often requires a professional
installer. Patented technology allows the Zoom/Dialer Model
24 to provide store-and-forward dialing to all of the phones
on a line with a simple parallel connection. That connection
can be done by a consumer in seconds. The Model 24 then controls
all of the phone traffic on a customer's phone line. The dialer
lets a service provider capture revenue-generating calls from
a customer's home or office without accepting unwanted traffic
like local calls, toll-free long distance calls, and 911 emergency
calls. The Model 24 dialer received
Internet Telephony magazine's Product of the Year Award for
2002. The award recognized the dialer as an industry-leading
product in IP Telephony. Samples of
the Zoom Dialer Model 24 are available to service providers
for $25 each. More information is available at http://www.zoom.com/products/dialers.html |
