ZoomAir Internet Gateway IG-4165 receives highest rating awarded in comparative review of Broadband Routers

Boston, MA, July 16, 2002 — Zoom Telephonics, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZOOM) announced today that its ZoomAir Internet Gateway IG-4165 has been awarded Macworld's Four Mouse product rating in a comparative lab-based review of broadband routing devices which included products from Agere, D-Link, Linksys, Buffalo and Belkin. The products were also compared to Apple's own Airport product.

The Macworld review gave high marks to the Zoom IG-4165 for security features , flexibility with its multiple switched Ethernet ports and its support for Virtual Private Networking. It also noted that the Zoom product offered these features for $100 less than the comparable Apple Airport router.

In particular the review noted that the Zoom product shined in the area of security, supporting port forwarding to create a virtual server. Flexibility is also enhanced by the ability of the IG-4165 to support wireless print serving with attached printers.

The Macworld review concludes by stating that the "Zoom ZoomAir IG-4165 with AppleTalk support, Mac specific documentation and its two port Ethernet switch comes close to (and sometimes outdoes) the Airport Base Station in features, and it costs $100 less!"
